There is no proper definition of muscle cars, but almost all motor experts agree on anything with smaller, 2-door car powered by a high-displacement engine like found in full-size sedan fall in a category of muscle cars. Here are the three most loved, sold and desired muscle/sports cars of all time.
1- 1967 Pontiac GTO
Having a 400-cubic-inch V-8 with 360 horsepower engine, this muscle car is surely the most desired car ever built; some experts think the reason is General Motors ban. Law implied on motor industry against putting big engines, the law forbids any engine larger than 330 cubic inches to be fit into small cars. Pontiac GTO became popular with its 389-cubic-inch V-8 in 1964. Its sales were so huge that the car won over GM execs, later Pontiac muscle cars Chevrolet, Buick and Oldsmobile followed the same footsteps
2- 1968 Plymouth Road Runner Hemi
Why look for niceties when one can have Plymouth? Having a 425-horsepower, 426-cubic-inch Hemi V-8 engine, it was truly a bare-knuckle, fighter muscle car. Some of us are still in love with it, it surely belong to one of the all-time great performance muscle cars. Having cartoon bird's "beep-beep," and a road runner picture, it was truly a race monster.
3- 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429
Having a 429-cubic-inch V-8 engine that delivers 375-horsepower, ford boss 429 is not shabby but dwarfed by others on top three lists. You must know that this car is what you get when a carmaker needs to meet NASCAR regulations. It was classic, vintage, and rare, only 1,400 of them were built between 1969 and 1970, making the Boss 429 a rare bird indeed. Ford Mustang Boss 429 is completely hand-built. Its engine does not fit in a standard Mustang and it appears like Michigan-based Kar Kraft.
